The gym is fitted out at 38 Hurndall Street East. Here's the layout: over 400m² of training space, studios and a dedicated playroom, all under one roof.
Layout is indicative and equipment placement may be refined. Playroom is separated from the gym floor by a child-safety fence.
226m² of cardio and machines with room to move. No squeezing between equipment.
Studio 1 stays open for classes and group sessions. Studio 2 is set up for Reformer Pilates.
A dedicated space with power rack and functional trainer, away from the main floor.
A safe, fenced-off space for under-7s so parents can train while the kids play. The movie screen, sofa and wifi keep older kids entertained too.
Two entrances (main and accessible ramp), two toilets including a fully accessible bathroom, and accessible parking.
Secure swipe card entry so the gym fits around your day. Early starts, late finishes, anytime.
Equipment placement may still be refined. Follow along on Facebook.
Real photos from the gym floor. Come see it for yourself.
Final equipment placement may still be refined.
The playroom is what makes this a family gym. A safe, dedicated space for under-7s, fenced off from the gym floor, so you can actually finish a workout.
Kids Area Pass: $1.25/week per child added to a parent's weekly membership, or $2.50 casual during staffed hours. See the pricing section above.
Parents remain responsible for their children at all times. The playroom is a safe space with CCTV and a live feed into the gym area, but we strongly recommend adult supervision. Many parents train while their kids are in an after-school class, or take turns with another responsible adult watching the playroom.
Our timetable is taking shape. Here's what's confirmed so far. Final days and times will be published with the full timetable.
Small group reformer classes on our four machines. All levels, beginner friendly.
Fun, active sessions for school age kids. Games, movement and confidence.
We're finalising a wider timetable of family friendly classes, including after school options. Watch this space.
Our after school block is designed for Maungaturoto families: kids' classes run while parents train. The full timetable will be published soon.
Studio classes and personal training are booked and priced separately from memberships, and you don't need to be a member to attend. Spaces are limited and members get priority and early access to bookings. Full timetable published soon.
Georgia Jensen is our gym manager and the face you'll see around the place. A long-term Kaipara resident, Georgia is passionate about community, fitness and family, and about building a gym where everyone in Maungaturoto feels welcome, whatever their starting point.
Maungaturoto Family Fitness is locally owned and locally run. Your membership stays in the community and keeps a gym in it.
The price lock applies to annual memberships paid upfront. Founding members keep their $18/week rate ($936 per year) and Early Access members keep their $20/week rate ($1,040 per year) for as long as the membership stays continuously active, even after standard prices change. If it lapses or is cancelled, rejoining is at the current rate.
Adult membership covers access to our gym equipment area only. It does not include studio classes or personal trainer sessions, which are booked and priced separately. The Kids Area Pass covers our play and movie area only and does not include any studio classes.
No. Adults and children don't need to be members to attend a studio class — classes are open to everyone and booked separately. Spaces are limited, and members get priority and early access to bookings before spots open more widely.
Term memberships (Early Access and Standard) are 12 month terms, billed weekly or fortnightly by direct debit through GymMaster, or annually upfront. If you'd rather not commit to a term, our No Contract plan is $29/week with unlimited visits, week to week, and can be cancelled any time on 14 days' written notice. There's also a 10-Visit Concession for casual users.
It's $240 paid upfront for 10 entry swipes, valid for 12 months from purchase, with full 24/7 access. Your first block includes the $45 joining fee, account setup and your own access fob; repeat blocks are just $240 with no joining fee, purchased whenever you need them (no automatic renewal). Each entry swipe deducts one visit. If you need to leave and re-enter during staffed hours, ask our team and we'll reset the entry so it counts once; outside staffed hours, let us know and we'll correct it the next staffed day. Unused visits expire at 12 months and aren't refundable, and the Kids Area Pass, price lock and family discount don't apply to this plan.
No fees are passed on for payments made by bank direct debit. If you choose to pay by Visa or Mastercard, a card transaction fee of 2.19% + $0.27 is added to the payment. This fee is charged by Ezypay, who manage card payment processing on our behalf, not by the gym. Direct debit from your bank account is the cheapest way to pay.
Entry runs on our GymMaster access system. Members get secure swipe access any time, day or night, and the gym is monitored and access controlled for everyone's safety.
The gym is staffed 8am–5pm Monday to Friday, except Wednesdays when the office closes at 3pm (until further notice). Outside staffed hours members have full 24/7 swipe access. Casual kids area visits are available during staffed hours only.
For under-7s: $1.25/week per child added to a parent's weekly membership and billed with it, with a one-off $10 onboarding fee including their own access fob. It's not available on the No Contract plan or the 10-Visit Concession. Everyone swipes into the building, so entries are tracked. Casual visits are $2.50 during staffed hours.
Two reasons: security and capacity. Swiping in means we always know who is in the building, which keeps members and kids safe, and it lets us manage numbers so we comply with council requirements and fire safety rules.
Yes, that's the point. The playroom suits under-7s, with toys, activities and a safe space fenced off from the gym floor. There's also a movie screen, sofa and wifi for all ages, so older kids can keep themselves entertained too. Kids' and family classes run after school.
Parents and caregivers remain responsible for their children at all times. The playroom has CCTV with a live feed into the gym area, and we strongly recommend adult supervision. Train while your kids are in an after-school class, or take turns with another responsible adult in the playroom.
Absolutely. Beginner friendly is one of our founding promises: easy introductions, beginner classes, and staff who'd rather help than hover.
Yes. Families get 10% off the full standard membership rate of $24/week, per member, with a minimum of three memberships, paid from one account with one primary account holder. The discount applies to standard adult term memberships only. It doesn't apply to Kids Area Passes, the No Contract plan, the 10-Visit Concession, or Founding and Early Access memberships, whose pre-sale discount is already bigger than the family discount.
Yes. Corporate membership discounts are available for organisations with 5 or more staff. Get in touch via the contact form and we'll sort a package for your workplace.
Yes. Ramp entry, accessible parking, and a fully accessible bathroom, all built to NZ accessibility standards.
